Tell us where the manuscript stands. A consultant reads what you send and replies by email — or by phone if you prefer, on the number you give us. No obligation, no pitch; the reading ends with a finding, and sometimes the finding is "file it yourself."
What happens after you send it
- Your request lands on the docket. A consultant — not a form-robot — reads what you sent, including the note.
- We reply by email. The first reply says what we read and what we still need: usually the AQR-approved proposal or the current draft, any letters from the board, your instruments, and which sites are involved. If you asked for a phone call, the reply says when we will make it.
- The free application review. You get the level-of-review reading in writing — not human-subjects research, exempt, expedited or full board — and an outline of the document plan. If the file is clean and the category exempt, the reading says so and tells you to file it yourself.
- A written quote, only if you want one. If you would like the docket on our desk, you receive a quote for one of three fixed-fee packages; work begins when you accept it in writing, and you are told who on the bench now holds your file.
What to have ready
- The proposal as AQR approved it — or the current draft, if you are before AQR. We can start the plan on a draft and file once the proposal clears.
- Anything the board has already written to you.
- Your instruments, and whatever permission or license you have for them.
- The sites where recruitment or data collection will happen, and who at each one can authorize it.
- Current CITI certificates for everyone named on the protocol, if you have them to hand.
Nothing on this list is required to send the form. It is what makes the first reply a reading instead of a question.

Before you send it: three things worth knowing
The order at GCU is committee, then AQR, then the IRB
The IRB application is read against the proposal AQR approved, so it is filed after AQR — but the reading and the plan can begin before. If you are still with the committee, say so in the form; the plan is ready when the proposal clears. Confirm the current sequence in GCU's current doctoral handbook or IRB portal.
Data collection waits for the letter
No recruiting, no piloting with real participants, no collecting "while the board reads." The approval or determination letter is the switch. Everything we do is aimed at flipping it once.
